Short Poems about Life

Awaken

At dusk yesterday,
I questioned my existence
At the break of dawn,
Tears of joy fell from my eyes
As the sun glides through the darkness

Solace

Water curtain, deep and still
Peaceful, enchanting silence
Noise of the world, unmindful
In the cradle curled-up
Sleeping, innocent child

Exile

I'll self-exile this Thursday
inside the dark corner of my mind
so when I come out I can
...appreciate the light of
hope again

Runaway (Lantern Poetry)

Run
Coward stride
Get away, never return
Escape and hide
Burn

Urban Combat

intersection
screeching tires, burning
trying to beat time

roundabouts
beeping cars – some
finding their way

freeway with restrictions
sweeping wind
destination unknown

The Guardian

Up in the sky
A gentle eye
Watches

Behind the clouds
Emits soft light
Comforts

Like a candle
Guides in the dark
Illuminates
