Valentines Day with You

I’m wearing leather shoes now
My hair is properly groomed
Learned to use the flat iron
And my shirt is well tucked-in

I've been to the dentist yesterday
That I haven’t done in quite a while
Been doing things these past days
Trying to have that perfect smile

Oh girl for you I would do
Things I thought I never could

Cleaned my room of things unholy
Even my toy cars collection I let go
What’s left now is Winnie the Pooh
That has been my loyal room buddy

I love bubble gum scent of air-freshener
But decided to try the smell of jasmine
Removed the baseball in my drawer
It’s not easy to let go of things

Oh girl for you I would do
Things I thought I never could

I have been practicing my lines
On the mirror as if you’re there
Been acting strange for some time
With the last line I always tatter

Enough strength I must muster
It’s getting heavier by the day
These things to you I must utter
Before everything will be too late

Oh girl for you I would do
Things I thought I never could
On the fourteenth of February
Will you be my Valentines?

About R.S. Mallari

Through poetry I am trying to break the barriers of ethnicity, cultures and even beliefs for we humans have the same emotions, the same desires and aspirations. We may differ in colors, in language, and food that we eat yet we are still living under the same sun, swimming and sailing on the same seas and sleeping under the same stars.
