R.S. Mallari

My Friend, Aren't You?

You are my friend
that’s what I believe in
beside me, you will stand
catch me if I’ll fall down

You are my friend
my miseries you've known
told me to hold on
lend me a helping hand

You are my friend
but yesterday I learnt
you let go of my hand
confused and abandoned

You are my friend
shouldn't you know me?
better than anyone
least, you should have ask me

You were my friend
you threw it all, so sudden
half-baked story, you've listened
cursing me in the end

About R.S. Mallari

Through poetry I am trying to break the barriers of ethnicity, cultures and even beliefs for we humans have the same emotions, the same desires and aspirations. We may differ in colors, in language, and food that we eat yet we are still living under the same sun, swimming and sailing on the same seas and sleeping under the same stars.
