The Poem I’ll Never Write

By: Pautamik

No stanza, no verse, no rhyme
Not even a single line.
No ink to blot the paper
To express the words I feel.

Words that profess love eternal
Would never be heard or seen.
Hopes and fears for my love;
The deepest of my feelings.

Freedom to write, I may have
But not the freedom to love.
No way to show and express
While I have the ring on my finger.

That’s why this poem will never be written
My love for you will remain whispered, hidden.
Until the day these were no longer bound,
I’ll keep my love locked away in my heart.
